Jewish Community and Holocaust Fund Observe Yom HaShoah

On Tuesday, the Jewish community and the Holocaust Fund of the Jews of Macedonia observed Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Community President Pepo Levi warned that the modern world was once again facing violence and conflicts, pointing out that tragedies in different parts of the world showed that the lessons from WWII had still not been fully learned.

He specifically referred to the arson attempt on the Jewish community building and synagogue in Skopje, describing it as a serious anti-Semitic act and a warning about the growth of hatred and intolerance.

U.S. CDA Varnes also addressed the event, stating that the attack on the synagogue had to be strongly condemned and that such acts represented an attack on the values of coexistence and respect. The event was also attended by President Siljanovska Davkova.
