Journalist Perev Assaulted, Claims it’s Act of Hate against His Bulgarian Ethnicity

Journalist Vladimir Perev claimed that he has been physically assaulted, stating as reason the fact that he declares as Bulgarian.

Perev, who is part of the Bulgarian community in North Macedonia, claimed that a man half his age has hit him on the face and broke his eyeglasses in the process, and shouted at him that “Bulgarians should go back to Bulgaria”.

The Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacted over this, condemning, as they state, this act of hatred against Bulgarians.

“We condemn this, unfortunately not first, act of violence grounded on hate against Bulgarians in North Macedonia, a phenomenon which is, unfortunately, encouraged by the socio-political atmosphere and anti-Bulgarian rhetoric there”, they stated from the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
