Within the EU-North Macedonia Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) session in Skopje, Bulgarian MEPs tried to insert amendments on constitutional changes.
Despite the insistence of North Macedonia’s representatives not to, as it was pointed out, bilateralize this process, the draft amendments were nevertheless put to a vote, but were not adopted.
Sitel has learned from its sources that out of the 57 amendments submitted, as many as 42 were filed by Bulgarian MEPs. On social media, Bulgarian MEP Vigenin confirmed that some of the amendments referred to membership talks, the rule of law, good-neighborliness, regional stability, as well as connectivity and the Iva Mihajlova case.
