Judicial Council President Kambovski Comments on Several Topics

With regards to the case of Appellate Court Judge Gjoko Ristov, Judicial Council President Aleksandar Kambovski stated on Wednesday that the decision to strip him of his immunity had been made following a request from the Criminal Court. Now, the investigation will need to determine all facts and circumstances related to the matter, he added.

So far, the Council hasn’t received petitions against Ristov by fellow Appellate Court judges of his, according to Kambovski.

Asked whether there had been disciplinary action against candidates in the January 29 vote to elect a Council member from the ranks of judges, including Hasan Asani, Kambovski said he couldn’t confirm that specifically because 600-700 petitions concerning judges were processed annually.

Regarding the instructions from the Supreme Court, which accepted the appeals of the dismissed Appellate Court judges involved in reaching a verdict related to Makedonski Telekom, Kambovski said there was action upon that.

The session also saw the Council determine a series of oversights by the judge for sanctions and Gostivar Basic Court’s Criminal Council regarding Remzi Miftari, who’s sentenced to ten years in prison in the Laskarci case and has been at large since November.

Furthermore, the Council formed a group that will look into the Bitola Basic Court’s action in relation to the abolition of the detention measure against Borche Markovski, one of those charged in the case concerning relocation of plant stations from the Oslomej mine.
