Krasimir Karakachanov, leader of VMRO-BND and former DefMin of Bulgaria, has extended an invitation to PM Mickoski to attend the solemn reception of the mortal remains of Tsar Samuel, scheduled to take place on October 3, in Sofia.
According to Karakachanov, Mickoski’s participation in the ceremony would be of particular significance not only as a sign of respect toward one of the most prominent figures in, as he stated, “our shared” medieval history.
Mickoski’s party, VMRO-DPMNE, responded by saying it would be more appropriate for Karakachanov to send the invitation to former PM Zaev and the current leader of SDSM, Filipche, whom it described as his like-minded individuals. VMRO-DPMNE welcomed the interest in Bulgaria regarding the legacy of Tsar Samuel, who, it noted, left an “indelible mark on Macedonia”.
