Tetovo Mayor and VLEN co-leader Bilall Kasami stated Thursday that there are tendencies for interethnic incidents in the upcoming period on ethe entire territory of North Macedonia, particularly in the western parts where majority of the population is of Albanian ethnicity.
“We received information from our friends from neighbouring countries that certain groups were planning to set the mosque at Popova Sapka on fire, and thus provoke interethnic incidents.
We collect this information and in the following period we will share it with the neighbouring countries, because any risk over the security in Macedonia is a security risk against a NATO member. This is why all states represented in Macedonia through their embassies are interested to help us so that we do not allow certain political factors to abuse the pre-electoral period for political gains in this manner”, Kasami said.
