Kocani Fire: 16 Each Issued 48-Hour Detention Measure

16 suspects have each been issued a 48-hour detention measure in relation to the Kocani nightclub fire.

Among them are ex-Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi and ex-State Market Inspectorate Director Goran Trajkovski. Regarding Ljupco Papazov, who resigned as Kocani Mayor a day after the tragedy, the Prosecutor’s Office has said he was interrogated, adding that it is yet to make a decision on his further status in the procedure.

According to the investigation so far, at the Pulse nightclub, there wasn’t a hydrant network, there were not enough fire extinguishers, there was unlawful use of pyrotechnics, the facility didn’t have a legal license to operate, and there was no contract, in writing, between the organizer and the band that was performing, DNK.
