The three-month investigation carried by 13 prosecutors into the Kocani fire case has resulted in 46,000 pieces of evidence and a 165-page bill of indictment. The charge covers a chronology of events that took place over a 13-year period.
34 people are charged with grave crimes against general safety, with the owner of the Pulse nightclub, Dejan Jovanov (aka Deko) being the principal in the first decree.
Among the other charged persons is also the owner of Milka Edrovska, a planning company, who, according to the charge, drew up a basic project even though she knew there couldn’t be a nightclub at the location.
Attorney Zvonko Davidovic, who’s a defender in the case, believes that considering the number of defendants and how big the case is, the trial may last several years. The bill was submitted to defenders three days ago.
They have until 28 July to voice a stand through objections. Afterwards, the Criminal Court will assess the charge and schedule the first hearing.
