“In my life, I’ve had a lot of difficult moments and challenges, but this today, is by far the hardest day of my life”, PM Hristijan Mickoski said at a press-conference on Sunday over the Kocani nightclub fire.
Calling for unity and togetherness, he stated that he had, when he had become the PM, come across a deeply corrupt system, created and fostered for decades, of which people of all parties and all profiles were part.
In that regard, the PM said that the country would never make it if that system was not brought down. However, he added that couldn’t be done swiftly and easily because it had been built for decades, not for months and years. Mickoski said the tragedy was a culmination of a bad system that ate hopes, adding also that he wouldn’t allow the corrupt system to win.
According to the PM, the facility had a fake licence, issued last March.
“That’s a document for operations of a nightclub, issued illegally, with an original seal by the Economy Ministry, by the then official persons of that same Ministry”, the PM stressed, adding that the investigation would answer the many questions in that regard.
Also, he announced all involved would be held criminally accountable, stressing institutions would carry out activities with surgical precision.
