At a press-conference on Sunday, Prosecutor-General Ljupco Kocevski said the current Economy Minister, Besar Durmishi, wasn’t covered by the Kocani fire investigation because there hadn’t been up to that point any evidence that he’d been asked to extend the Pulse nightclub’s license.
As he explained, the investigation has so far covered 45 physical persons and three legal entities. Additionally, Kocevski added, seven police officers are being investigated.
Regarding the 19 new suspects, Kocevski said detention measures had been sought for four, house arrest measures and a ban on communication for seven, measures of precaution for as many, while one suspect (ex-Economy Minister Driton Kuqi) was not in the country.
“The investigation will be maximally effective and produce desired effects”, the Prosecutor-General explained.
At the same press-conference, Interior Minister Pance Toskovski stated that his institution had taken a series of activities through which it had shown that the law was enforced against everyone responsible for wrongdoing, with evidence gathered in that regard.
“We will continue to take activities over everyone for whom evidence will be gathered”, he added.
