Kocevski: Another Pre-investigation Opened into Kocani Fire

The Prosecutor’s Office has opened another pre-investigation into the Kocani fire. Prosecutor-General Ljupco Kocevski, without revealing details, said on Tuesday multiple activities were being looked into. Inspectors from both the Public Revenue Office (PRO) and other institutions have been covered.

The end of the process related to the charge in the case doesn’t mean that the procedure about the nightclub fire has finished as well, Kocevski noted. Regarding the texts revealed in IRL’s documentary, he said they were nothing new, that is, that they’d been sent to defence, Criminal Court, and police.

However, he also pointed out that the number of texts the Office had at its disposal was much higher. There were there perhaps another 10 incriminating activities, the Prosecutor-General stated in that regard.

Kocevski is adamant that every incriminating activity would be covered. The same day, the PRO stated that it had suspended the inspectors covered in the pre-investigation.

Regarding the documentary, where IRL made public texts between the nightclub’s owner’s son, Mihajlo Jovanov, and PRO, State Market Inspectorate and police inspectors, the institution told Kanal 5 that the decision on suspension had been made in order to protect the integrity of the institution during the procedure.
