Kos Reportedly Sends Letter to WB Leaders over Growth Plan and Reforms

Enlargement Commissioner Kos has sent a letter to the leaders of the Western Balkan (WB) countries warning that the region could lose a total of up to 750 million euros from the Growth Plan if reforms are not accelerated, according to regional media.

“Last week I wrote to the authorities in the region to accelerate reforms, otherwise their citizens will lose a lot. The Growth Plan is strictly based on action and has a time limit. Currently, over 700 million euros are in danger of being permanently lost if reforms are not completed by June or December 2026”, Kos stated yesterday before the EP’s Foreign Affairs Committee (AFET), as reported by RTCG.

According to the Montenegrin TV station’s data, North Macedonia risks losing 49.2 million euros. Also regarding the integration path, the Commissioner hopes the new Bulgarian government will help North Macedonia start accession talks. However, she again said the constitutional changes remained a condition.
