
Constitutional Court President Darko Kostadinovski and Judge Ana Pavlovska-Daneva started their participation in the World Conference on Constitutional Justice (WCCJ) in Madrid by holding a meeting with Candido Conde-Pumpido Touron, President of the Spanish Constitutional Court.
At the meeting, Kostadinovski expressed high respect for the Spanish Court with regards to the building of the legal state and rule of law in Spain.
Information was exchanged on matters such as challenges facing the two institutions, while the Spanish Court’s President expressed interest in the activities of the Balkan Forum of Constitutional Courts, as well as in its aspirations to become a separate part, that is, to be on the list of the WCCJ’s regional groups, on which he was briefed by his counterpart.
Regarding the aforementioned aspirations, a decision will be made in the frames of the General Assembly on Thursday.
Also, Kostadinovski invited his Spanish counterpart to visit North Macedonia in October or November 2026 for the summit when the Constitutional Court of that country will chair the Forum.
The Spanish Court’s head expressed full readiness with regards to strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation, as well as exchanging of experiences and knowledge.
