On Monday, independent Kocani Council member Venko Krstevski was elected Acting Mayor of the Municipality.
“Now is not the time for politics. Unification is needed for Kocani to overcome the sorrow and for there to be functional institutions”, he said.
Krstevski, in both rounds, won 9 votes, whereas the other candidate, VMRO-DPMNE’s Goce Markov got eight. Before the vote, VMRO-DPMNE Council member Kristina Atanasova-Arsova had said she was resigning, explaining that she would focus on her child, who’d been injured, and all other kids that had been injured.
