The three current and former engineers of Krusik, the Serbia-based factory which manufactures weapons and ammunition, arrested yesterday over, as Serbian media said, suspicions of espionage to the benefit of North Macedonia-based ATS Group, will be taken for a hearing procedure before the Higher Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Valjevo, Kanal 5 said in a report at around 3:30 pm on Tuesday.
According to the Serbian Interior Ministry, the suspects, M.O. (1987), D.L. (1987), and D.M. (1987) would, in an unauthorised manner, take out confidential business-technical documentation that they would hand over to a foreign organisation at the expense of Serbia’s security, defence, military, and other interests, as well as to weaken the country’s power.
Citing police sources, Serbian media said that during the search of their flats, police found, inter alia, confidential documents about gunpowder and employment contracts with ATS Group, owned by Shefshet Demirovski. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic didn’t reveal a lot of details.
“We have been following this for a long time. We know exactly who it’s about, who it went through and who was and who was supposed to be the end user,” he stressed, describing North Macedonia as a “continuous flow water heater” towards some other services in the region.
