The Kumanovo Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office has conducted insight over the cases which saw Prosecutor Xhelal Bajrami’s car and DUI Council member Fitor Jakupi’s store set on fire, saying on Monday that potential motives were being investigated.
In addition to the expertise process, footage from security cameras will be checked. Bajrami said that he expected the person or persons responsible to be very soon brought to justice. Commenting on the cases, the Alliance for Albanians wing headed by Ziadin Sela urged citizens not to fall for such “provocations and scenarios”, in addition to calling for institutions to take urgent action.
“The verbal threats, hate speech, and anti-Albanian rhetoric, instigated also by ruling political exponents and nationalist groups, have started to materialize through attacks on Albanians and their property,” it said in a press-release.
Sela’s wing also called on the international community to directly intervene to prevent the events and “this campaign that is endangering not only the country, but also the entire region”.
The Alliance for Albanians wing also asked whether the so-called Serb World, together with its “servants” in North Macedonia, perhaps wanted destabilization in North Macedonia, similar to that “they had attempted” several days prior in Kosovo.
According to the 360 Stepeni (360 Degrees) portal, one of the other vehicles that was set on fire is owned by a person that is a close relative of a DUI parliamentarian.
