Levica Parliamentary Group Files Draft-Law to ‘Protect’ Name ‘VMRO’

Levica’s Parliamentary Group has said it has filed to Parliament a draft-law to “protect” the name “Vnatresna Makedonska Revolucionerna Organizacija [Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organisation] – VMRO”.

The party’s leader, MP Dimitar Apasiev, stated on Thursday that the day had finally come to protect the name “VMRO” and prohibit various “criminal associations embodied in business-political parties from abusing it to get personally rich”.

However, a reaction immediately came from VMRO-DPMNE’s Parliamentary Group Coordinator, MP Nikola Micevski, who referred to Levica as “radical marginal structures” connected to centres in Bulgaria in order for “Macedonia to give up on its revolutionary past”.
