Thursday marked the 22 nd anniversary of the Ljubotenski Bacila massacre. On that day in 2001, during the conflict, Tome Badarovski, Goce Cankulovski, Branko Janev, Tomislav Nastevski, Marjanco Boskovski, Ivica Zlatevski, Tome Dimovski, and Rade Jankovski were killed when their vehicle ran over a landmine.

A delegation of President Stevo Pendarovski’s Cabinet laid flowers in Ljubanci, Volkovo, and at the Ilinden Barracks. Flowers were laid also by Defence Minister Slavjanka Petrovska and the Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurcinovski. VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski said the sacrifice of the defenders would never be forgotten. “Heroes live forever,” he added.

Gjorce Petrov Mayor Aleksandar Stojkoski said his Municipality had proposed to the City of Skopje’s Council for five streets in Gjorce Petrov to be named after the heroes. “This is just part of our pledges honouring them,” he stated.
