On Tuesday, over the Lottery case, the Criminal Court issued 30-day detention measures against ex-Deputy PM Artan Grubi and ex-National Lottery head Perparim Bajrami.
Also, the Skopje Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office issued to the Interior Ministry an order for a national warrant and statement on issuing an international one over the two people. According to the Prosecutor’s Office’s procedures, first, a national warrant is issued and a statement to issue an international one is given.
That statement confirms that if the suspects are detained abroad, it will be requested that they be extradited to North Macedonia. Sources told Telma that Grubi had left North Macedonia in a diplomatic vehicle with the help of Kosovo’s Honorary Consul in North Macedonia, businessperson and Neptun owner Arsim Papraniku.
According to unofficial information, to exit the country, the ex-Deputy PM used an Albanian travel document. Previously, sources had told Faktor that Grubi had already hired a lawyer, Vladimir Donevski, who had on the previous day, Monday, told the Criminal Court that his client was ready to immediately return to North Macedonia if the detention measure was replaced by a milder one, such as one to take away a travel document.
Donevski was Dragi Raskovski’s lawyer in the trial against the ex-Government Secretary General over the Software case. Regarding the other four suspects covered by the investigation, they’ve been issued measures of precaution, meaning their passports have been taken away and have an obligation to report to the court from time to time.
When it comes to the other two persons against whom a charge has been filed, ex-PM Dimitar Kovacevski and ex-Government Secretary General Metodija Dimovski, the Public Prosecutor’s Office said checks were continuing, adding that the process against them concerned another period of time and activities.
