Investigative organs have detained a person associated with the Baron-Belanoca cartel on suspicion of extortion of 165,000 euros.
The man was arrested during the handover of the money, that, according to unofficial information, was the result of longtime extortion, Sitel reported at around 9 pm on Monday.
The operation is still underway, while there is increased police presence on the territory of Kumanovo, but also in Aracinovo, from where the arrested person is. There hasn’t been a lot of detailed information from authorities.
“The Interior Ministry’s Department of Suppressing Organised and Serious Crime, in coordination with a relevant public prosecutor of the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecution of Organised Crime and Corruption, has deprived of liberty a person for a committed act of extortion. Currently, searches are being performed at multiple locations in Aracinovo, located in the Skopje region”, the Ministry said.
According to Sitel, the operation is a continuation of the Bunker case, which covers 18 persons from the Baron-Belanoca group that are suspected of murder and racketeering.
