A joint of the delegation Army’s General Staff and Defence Ministry led by the Chief, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurcinovski, and State Secretary Elizabeta Cupovska Ristova, respectively, laid flowers at the memorial plaque near Karpalak on the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of the 10 defenders killed in the ambush during the 2001 conflict.
“Nane Naumoski, Saso Kitanovski, Goran Minovski, Erdogan Sabanovski, Ljube Grujoski, Branko Sekuloski, Darko Veljanovski, Pece Sekulovski, Vebi Rusitovski, and Mirko Despotovski paid the highest price and gave their lives for their fatherland, for preserving the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity,” it was said at the marking.
Foreign Minister Timco Mucunski laid flowers at the Karpalak statue in Prilep, praising the sacrifice of the defenders.
“The Government will continue to work fully committedly on supporting defenders and their families,” he said. SDSM representatives laid flowers at the statue too.
