Mayoral Candidates Continue Activities

On Thursday, VMRO-DPMNE Skopje mayoral candidate Orce Gjorgjievski presented several projects in relation to traffic in the capital. Regarding the matter of underground boulevard below the Limak Hotel in the centre of the capital, he stated that it would have six lanes, as well as additional pavements.

The road artery, Gjorgjievski explained, will result in traffic running fully smoothly, while the centre will be significantly unburdened. He also stated that there was a plan for Dame Gruev Street to be turned into a boulevard, in addition to presenting parking-related projects.

ZNAM’s Centar mayoral candidate, Miroslav Labudovic, stated that the Municipality would have max support.

“With max mutual coordination and cooperation, we will make the city a much better place to live in. Residents of Centar and Skopje expect and will get changes, such as organised public transport, more parking spaces, smart parking systems. We’re talking about order and removing the chaos happening to us now”, he underlined.

The same day, SDSM’s Centar candidate, Goran Gerasimovski, who’s running for another term, presented a craft street project.

“All craftspersons, artists, and manufacturers will get their own space for development and promotion of ideas and businesses, while citizens will get a new corner with unique Macedonian products”, he stressed.

The opposition party’s Skopje mayoral candidate, Kaja Sukova, said youth hubs were one of her key priorities.

“In line with the example of big European metropolises, they will be places where youth will be able to develop their own ideas, network with companies, and acquire know-how and experiences”, she underlined. Sukova’s plan is for the first youth centres to be opened in Centar and Aerodrom.

When it comes to Levica’s mayoral candidate for the capital, Amar Mecinovic, he again stated that solving public transport issues would solve a bigger part of problems facing the capital, including air pollution.

The number of environmental inspectors must be increased, while they must be equipped with drones in order to do more efficient on-site work, he underlined, emphasising also that cooperation with the Environment Ministry had to be advanced as well.

In Cair, the DUI-led coalition’s mayoral candidate, Bujar Osmani, presented plans to form five crisis HQs for the areas of cleanliness, illegal structures, parking lots, fighting corruption, and public safety on the first day of his term. Also, he again talked about his plan to solve traffic issues in relation to the Caircanka complex.

VLEN’s candidate in the Municipality, Izet Mexhiti, on his part, presented plans for, as he said, a rebirth of the Old Bazaar and development of tourism as an “economic engine” of Cair.
