Mayors of Municipalities in Skopje Hold Meeting on Communal Hygiene Issue

On Wednesday, the President of the Association of Local Self-Government Units, Orce Gjorgjievski, who’s currently the Mayor of Kisela Voda and VMRO-DPMNE’s candidate in the Skopje mayoral race, stated that a meeting with all mayors in the capital had been held upon an initiative from Centar Mayor Goran Gerasimovski (who’s running for another term), with the goal being finding a solution to the Communal Hygiene PE issue.

“Today, we’re talking not only about how to act in the next several days, until the end of the elections, but also about how to solve the hygiene problem in Skopje in a lasting fashion. We will also seek support from our counterparts outside the city of Skopje so that we jointly contribute to the settling of this jam”, he noted, calling on the Dirsla PE’s management to demonstrate understanding and not cause obstructions during the entry of mechanisation focused on transporting waste from the capital.

According to him, municipalities have neither their own mechanisation nor competences to pick up waste.

“Our fellow citizens regularly pay their bills. However, unfortunately, they don’t get the service from the City’s PE. We will therefore give our all in the coming days, while, also, as I’ve promised, in the first 72 hours of my mayoral term, we will finally clean up Skopje and put an end to this agony”, Gjorgjievski stressed.
