
Several hours after polling stations had closed, in Kumanovo, mayoral candidate Maksim Dimitrievski, who’s running for a new term, stated that based on 80% of votes processed by ZNAM’s analytics centre, all other six candidates combined had won as many votes as he himself had received.
“I cannot say at this moment whether we will have a second round or not because all data have not been processed. However, even if there is, ZNAM will be a definite winner in the local elections,” the ZNAM leader stated.
In Karpos, the mayoral candidate endorsed by the Experience for Success coalition, Stevco Jakimovski, who’s running for another term, said after the closing of polling stations that he and VMRO-DPMNE’s candidate, Sotir Lukrovski, would enter the second round.
In Centar, SDSM’s candidate, Goran Gerasimovski, who’s running for another term, and ZNAM’s Miroslav Labudovic will enter the second round.
Strumica, VMRO-DPMNE’s candidate, Petar Jankov, declared a victory as early as the first round. Expressing gratitude for support from citizens, Jankov also said he expected VMRO-DPMNE to have the majority in the Council as well.
Multiple other candidates of VMRO-DPMNE, too, declared a victory in the first round, including Darko Kostovski in Butel, Kiril Pecakov in Ohrid, and Ivan Jordanov in Stip.
