1st Deputy PM Izet Mexhiti said on Friday four MPs would join VLEN’s nine parliamentarians.
“Negotiations are underway with European Front MPs”, he stressed.
Talks with some concern a transfer to VLEN, while negotiations with others are related to them representing support for the cabinet.
“Currently, the cabinet has a stable majority and already has the same number of MPs despite using [Alliance for Albanians’ wing leader and outgoing Health Minister Arben] Taravari’s leaving. In the Albanian part, too, there is legitimacy and the same number. We have 13-14 MPs even without Taravari”, he emphasized.
Also, Mexhiti stressed that there were talks with multiple political options regarding the ministerial position in the health sector and, depending on that, a new person would be nominated.
On his part, MP Halil Snopce, who’s part of Taravari’s wing, stated that he didn’t expect the leader of the other wing, Ziadin Sela, to cause problems with regards to the name of the new parliamentary group because “Sela’s MPs are part of the European Front coalition, while the court process isn’t over”.
Though the Basic Court in Tetovo has ruled that Sela is entitled to the name and seals of Alliance for Albanians as a party, Taravari has appealed and said he will not give up until a final decision is made by a court.
