Mickoski: Opposition Spread Fake News about Water Quality in Skopje

PM Hristijan Mickoski said authorities received information a day before reports of allegedly contaminated water in Skopje spread that opposition parties were planning to create panic through social media. He said the Interior Ministry is investigating the case and has questioned around 10 people, adding that social media has increasingly become a platform for spreading unverified claims without accountability.

“Today, social media is being used to send messages that represent a kind of hybrid attack, aimed at creating unrest, insecurity and anger among citizens. I understand that we are dealing with a desperate opposition trying to create hysteria for political points, but we will respond with work, projects and commitment. That is how you counter lies and fabricated stories”, Mickoski said.
