At a press-conference at around 9:30 pm on Sunday, VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski said the coalition led by his party had a “big, big” victory.
“If anybody had doubts, the people has shown Macedonia is yours again”, he underlined, adding that faith, hope, and yearning for a future had won.
Mickoski stated that Orce Gjorgjievski had had a convincing victory in the Skopje mayoral race. Regarding Karpos and the victory of his party’s candidate, Sotir Lukrovski, he stated that the time of “local sherifs” was ending.
Mickoski voiced particular satisfaction with the victory of his party’s candidate in Kicevo, Aleksandar Jovanovski, over the DUI-led coalition’s candidate, Fatmir Dehari.
Dehari was defeated by the people, which has united against irresponsible work, he pointed out, adding that people of different religions and affiliations had cooperated against those “that were dragging the city down”.
Additionally, the VMRO-DPMNE leader pointed to the victory of his party’s candidates in the Brvenica and Kocani mayoral races.
