Mickoski Reiterates Stance on Early Elections Issue, Filipche Responds

Regarding the potential early elections issue, PM Mickoski again said on Thursday that though such polls were not needed, if the opposition insisted, they would be held.

“As a coalition, we have received legitimacy from the citizens to be the government for four years. However, if the opposition believes early elections are needed, we will not sit on the sidelines like cowards, but rather respond positively to that demand and, of course, we will defeat them”, Mickoski stated.

SDSM leader Filipche responded by stating that he would not give the government an alibi by demanding early elections.

“We will not be his alibi. Elections will be scheduled by the PM, who holds absolute power at every level — a two-thirds majority in Parliament, the presidency, executive power, a majority in the municipalities”, he stressed.
