Mickoski Reiterates Stand on Importance of Elections, while Filipce Says Citizens will Punish VMRO-DPMNE

At his party’s rally in Struga on Tuesday, VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski stated that the upcoming elections were not just common local polls, but rather ones in which a strong message was being paid regarding the political will in that Municipality.

“Basically, we have two choices. The first is the choice for all of us to go back, return to the dark past of crime, corruption, tenders, the disintegrated and taken-away state, whereas with the other option, that is, the other path is the one in which you choose honest staff, an option that gives the last atom of strengthen for us to make it and oppose the rotten system inherited by us”, he noted.

At that crossroads, the PM assessed, there will be a lot of temptations and secret deals. In that regard, he again noted that there was such a deal between Levica and DUI that aimed to ensure another mayoral term for Ali Ahmeti’s party.

He also asked why Levica Skopje mayoral candidate Amar Mecinovic hadn’t resigned as MP as a result of his decision to run in the elections considering Levica had been saying in the 2021 elections that it was logical for every mayoral candidate who was a parliamentarian to resign from the legislative house.

Also on Tuesday, SDSM leader Venko Filipce, on the other hand, stated that citizens would punish VMRO-DPMNE in the local elections. As he noted, the ruling party is responsible for judicial partisanship and failure with regards to the reforms process.

The SDSM leader also noted that citizens were fed up with the government’s everyday rhetoric while the country faced serious economic problems. In response to accusations from VMRO-DPMNE, Filipce again said his party was running in the elections on its own and didn’t have a deal with any other opposition party.
