Mickoski Warns of Early 1990s-Style Balkan Tensions

Tensions are once again occurring in the Balkans that have the potential to trigger a regional crisis from the slightest incident, reminiscent of the events of the early 1990s, PM Mickoski said in an interview with MTV1.

His concern, he explained, stems from the meeting he held, alongside representatives from other Western Balkan countries, with EU foreign policy chief Kallas in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

Among the contentious issues raised at the meeting, according to him, were relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, including the issue related to the funeral of Ratko Mladic, as well as ongoing disagreements between Belgrade and Pristina and the Banjska attack. Quick deliverables from the EU are needed for regional peace and prosperity, the PM pointed out to Kallas.
