PM Hristijan Mickoski said the government and citizens spent zero denars on events marking the 35th anniversary of Macedonia’s independence.
Speaking in Shtip, he said all the activities were organized by socially responsible companies and that the spending can be verified through the government’s Open Finance platform. Mickoski said he had remained silent despite speculation and false claims because he wanted the events to remain a special experience for citizens.
SDSM has challenged PM Mickoski’s claim that “zero denars” from the state budget were spent on David Guetta’s performance and other events marking Macedonia’s 35th anniversary of independence. In a reaction, the party questioned whether funds paid by the State Lottery, a state-owned company, should also be considered public money.
SDSM argued that when a state-owned company finances government concerts and celebrations through its dividends, the money ultimately belongs to citizens. The party concluded that Mickoski’s claim of “zero denars” was misleading.
