Minister of Justice Shasivari met with the IFES Country Director for North Macedonia Ioana Cosma to discuss the electoral reform process and further steps toward advancing electoral legislation. The discussion centered on the necessity of conducting the process through dialogue, including all relevant stakeholders, and identifying sustainable solutions to bolster public trust in the electoral process, the Ministry said in a press release.
The Ministry of Justice has already taken steps to re-establish dialogue among political actors, with the recent consultative meeting with parliamentary party representatives serving as part of efforts to unblock the process and return open issues to the negotiating table.
Shasivari emphasized that electoral reform couldn’t be a unilateral process and that its advancement required continuous communication, a willingness to hear all arguments, and a consensus-building approach.
