Asked to comment on the stance of Lithuanian counterpart Budrys that now is the moment for enlargement and it should be seized, Minister Mucunski has said that there is broad support from EU members for North Macedonia’s progress, but that clear assurances are necessary for an unimpeded European integration process.
On Monday, when he met Budrys in Skopje, Mucunski also stated that the dialogue with Bulgaria should continue with support from member states and European institutions, with the goal being to reach a solution that ensured a predictable and secure European path for the country, based on merit criteria, not bilateral issues.
“Now is the moment for enlargement, and if I were in your place, I would seize this opportunity”, Budrys had said previously.
According to the Lithuanian Foreign Minister, obligations undertaken by both the EU and candidate countries should be fulfilled.
