Regarding the activities to evacuate citizens of North Macedonia from the crisis areas in the Middle East, Minister Mucunski said on Monday institutions were working at full capacity. He emphasized in that regard that the goal was for all citizens who’d requested help to be safely returned home by mid-week.
Also on Monday, the Energy Regulatory Commission said retail prices of oil derivatives would, as of midnight, increase, on average, by 14.27%. Specifically, the price, per liter, of diesel and gas (EUROSUPER BS-95 and EUROSUPER BS-98) has increased by 14.5 and five denars, respectively.
SDSM leader Filipche said that citizens would, as a result of the increase in gas prices, also face higher power bills and higher food prices. He presented three draft measures: lowering the VAT rate from 18% to 5% in relation to energy agents, lowering the excise duty by 4 denars, and reducing VAT on basic food products to 0%.
However, in response to Filipche’s comments, VMRO-DPMNE said he had no credibility to give advice considering he’d wanted to profit off vaccines during the COVID crisis.
