The Ministry of Interior Issued a warning to the public that there is an ongoing phishing campaign which aims to deceive citizens with false SMSs allegedly sent by the Safe City system for traffic violations.
The SMSs contain a false information that the citizen in question has conducted a traffic violation, followed by a malicious link for them to pay the false fine, through which scammers abuse the citizens’ personal data in order to empty their payment cards or bank accounts.
The Interior Ministry calls upon all citizens to be extremely cautious and to not open suspicious links sent from suspicious telephone numbers, adding that the Safe City system always sends a message from a server named “MVR-SC”, while the link should be in the format “https://safecountry.mvr.gov.mk…”.
