Negotiations within VLEN Finishing

Negotiations on who the leader of VLEN will be once the coalition is transformed into a single party, as well as on how many posts within ruling structures and positions within the Government the partners, Mexhiti, Kasami, Sali, Fetai, and Qoku, will get, are finishing. A source from Mexhiti’s wing has stated that a deal should be expected in two-three days.

According to the latest information, Mexhiti and Kasami have already agreed on the party having two leaders.

Democratic Movement and BESA would each get 35% participation in the party and in the executive power, while the remaining 30% would go to Alternativa, Self-Determination, and the Fetai-headed wing of Alliance for Albanians. However, the junior partners haven’t agreed to that. Former Alternativa leader Gashi, who’s now the Speaker of Parliament, says it’s good for VLEN to become a party.

“I give open support to leader Bekim Sali to decide regarding the merger of VLEN into a party. It’s about four parties with a different chronology, but VLEN has become what it is due to two principles: equality and decision-making by consensus. I think those are two principles that should be held within the new party, too”, he points out.
