New Hearing Held in Kochani Fire Trial

A new hearing was held in the Kochani fire trial on Monday. Conversations the Pulse nightclub owner, Dejan Jovanov, and his son, Mihajlo Jovanov, had with representatives of institutions and their employees were presented.

The evidence presented consisted of call and text logs extracted from their phones. In part of the communication, it could be noted that Mihajlo informed his father about a raid, i.e., about a visit by police officers to the nightclub to check for the presence of minors.

To that, Dejan Jovanov replied: “alright, let them be present, there are many minors, we will take the company into bankruptcy anyway”.

Communication was also presented regarding a tip-off about an inspection by Public Revenue Office inspectors at the nightclub. Those inspectors are, in fact, currently under investigation in Kochani. They still haven’t been charged.

Such communication lasted for about five years — from 2020 until the moment of the tragic event, March 16, 2025.
