New Protest March Held in Kocani

A new protest march was held in Kocani on Saturday. Relatives and friends of those killed in the Kocani fire, and supporters of theirs called on the Prosecutor’s Office to invite them and explain, as they pointed out, which persons have been covered by the charge and for whom the procedure has been stopped.

“We are not lawyers”, Marija Petruseva, whose son, Andrej Panov, was among those killed in the tragedy.

According to her, transparency and direct communication is expected.

“We consider it is of essential importance for the Office to finally and fully familiarise us with the outcome of the investigative procedure”, Petruseva added.

She stressed that there was concern also because despite indications, some people hadn’t even been summoned for interrogation.

“Our pain is difficult, but the fight is just. We demand responsibility and truth”, Petruseva underlined.

Among the participants in the march was the Acting Mayor of Kocani, Venko Krstevski, too. The Prosecutor’s Office said on Sunday it was ready to meet relatives of those killed and inform them about all aspects of the charge.
