Transport Minister and DPM Nikoloski said the transporters-EES issue was high on the agenda in Brussels and a solution was expected as soon as possible. According to him, there’s an intensive diplomatic activity and direct lobbying within European institutions by the Government, aiming to protest domestic transport companies.
Official dialogue has been started with the EC in the frames of the new Visa Strategy, Nikoloski pointed out. As he explained, there are several options that are being considered as potential solutions: each Schengen member issuing separate visas (while the days there would concern time spent only in that country); fully exempting drivers as in the case of pilots and engineers; and treating them as cross border workers.
