On Tuesday, in the frames of the trial over the Oncology Clinic case, a nurse working at the health institution stated that people with cancer had directly received therapy directly from the then-Director, Nikola Vasev, in a so-called under-the-counter fashion.
“There was no medication at the hospital. The patient’s wife, who was an inspector, asked why it was not there and went upstairs, to the office of the Director. Then, Vasev called me, gave me an ampoule, and told me to give it to the patient. There were other cases too. I took therapy from the Director also for another patient, when the medication was not available at the hospital”, the employee, a witness for the prosecution, stated.
Inventory of medications was performed on a weekly basis at the Clinic, it was pointed out during the hearing. The nurse also said in her testimony that in 2022, before the New Year’s holidays, 90 ampoules and another 45 that had been supposed to be given to the patients had disappeared from the Clinic.
However, the defence said the witness shouldn’t be trusted because it had evidence that the nurse cooperated with justice and in exchange for that, some acts of hers had been forgiven.
