Five of the ten persons convicted in the trial over the 27 April 2017 storming of Parliament who were using the 30-day furlough measure for health reasons have requested that a court stop their respective prison sentences.
Three of them have been issued one-month stoppage, the Criminal Court has confirmed.
The response to the fourth request is being prepared, while the fifth was rejected because documentation was incomplete.
When it comes to the Stip prison, it says that six persons had their sentence-stoppage request accepted. Two of them, Aleksandar Janevski and Jane Cento, returned to the prison on 14 August after the period covered by the measure had ended.
According to information from the prison’s head, Dejan Zdravkov, the other four persons are Mitko Cavkov, Oliver Popovski, Dusko Lazarov, and Mitko Pesov, who will return behind bars on 21 November, 22 September, 25 September, and 16 November, respectively.
The acting head of the Directorate for Execution of Sanctions, Aleksandar Pandov, expects, as he says, the 27 April “problem” to be solved in the September-October period.
He says, “If they were truly terrorists, why were they allowed to use a furlough measure? I see their problem also as a problem of the state. That unfortunate episode will end.”
