At a session on Wednesday, Parliament elected State Election Commission (SEC) member Boris Kondarko as the body’s head.
The decision, it was explained, is a result of the post-election situation because, according to the Electoral Code, opposition parties nominate the SEC President and two members, while ruling ones nominate four members.
Also, as a result of the retirement of member Radica Risteska and election of member Bojan Stojanovski as the Secretary-General of Parliament, the legislative house started a process for a competition to elect successors to be announced.
In addition, the session saw Parliament elect the head, members, and deputy members of the newly-formed Equitable Representation Committee.
The body will be chaired by DUI MP Talat Xhaferi Moreover, Parliament proceeded, to further reading, changes and amendments to the Law on Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Prevention.
The changes aim at, inter alia, implementation of recommendations from MONEYVAL’s Report regarding the fifth evaluation round, adopted in May 2023, and alignment with the EU acquis.
