Parliament Speaker Gashi Comments on Several Topics

Parliament Speaker Gashi has responded to public reactions to the fact that he will not be part of the celebrations marking August 2, Ilinden Uprising Day and Day of the Republic, for the second consecutive year. He stated on Thursday that the visit to Egypt was very significant and that, in consultation with state leadership, they had decided he should travel to that country.

Regarding the Equitable Representation Bill, citing Article 170 of the Rules of Procedure and pointing out that the same mechanism had been utilized 161 times during the term of the previous composition of Parliament, the Speaker said that he would personally decide when the text would be put to a vote.

Regarding the Skopje – European Capital of Culture (ECoC) 2028 Bill, Gashi stated that the decision had been made so as not to block Parliament’s work and not to call into question the capital’s candidacy due to, as he noted, dilemmas surrounding public procurement.
