Parties’ Press-conferences after Closing of Polling Stations

After the closing of polling stations, on Sunday, VMRO-DPMNE’s Timco Mucunski said there would be a big victory of his party. VMRO-DPMNE expects to win more votes and mayoral races than in the 2021 local elections, he added.

“Today, Macedonia had peaceful and successful elections that meet the highest criteria for a democratic election process”, he noted.

After the polling stations closed, VLEN held a press-conference, too, where Yllka Nuredini and Driton Sulejmani, Spokespersons of the Central HQ, assessed there had been a peaceful election day, without major irregularities.

The DUI-led coalition, National Alliance for Integration, held a press-conference after polling stations had closed as well at which Arber Ademi extended gratitude to citizens. SDSM, too, held a press-conference after the end of the voting process. The party’s Secretary-General, Aleksandar Dimitrijevic, stated that SDSM was in the lead in multiple municipalities and expected victories as early as the first round.

According to Dimitrijevic, SDSM has better results than in the 2021 local polls, which proves citizens recognise the policy of stability and security.

However, he noted, SDSM’s observers spotted multiple cases of violation of the election silence period, issues related from a campaigning standpoint, and election bribery attempts. Levica, too, held a press-conference after polling stations had closed, stressing that there had been violations of the election silence period and other problems.
