Pavlina Crvenkovska no Longer Judicial Council Member

Pavlina Crvenkovska is no longer a member of the Judicial Council. The decision was made at Tuesday’s session, half a year before her term was set to end. Council President Aleksandar Kambovski said Crvenkovska (who didn’t attend the session) met old-age retirement conditions.

The new Judicial Council Law foresees the end of the terms of members when they meet old-age retirement conditions. However, Article 12 (transitional and final provisions) says those elected according to the previous legislation shall continue to be part of the institution until the end of the term for which they were elected.

Nonetheless, the Council consulted Parliament, which said the provision didn’t concern the termination of members’ terms, but rather was related to the election of members.

The Judicial Council acted in accordance with Parliament’s response. Crvenkovska has told Telma that she wanted to retire now but had not formally requested the termination of her term.
