On Tuesday, US Ambassador Angela Aggeler, answering a journalist’s question, said that she hadn’t talked to PM Hristijan Mickoski about the issue of destabilization.
“Well, I talk to government officials every day. It’s my job. It’s also, by the way, why I have pictures with former officials, because that’s my job. But specifically about stability of this country, I don’t recall having a conversation about that specifically, but I did speak to the Prime Minister last night, right after the designation [of ex-Deputy PM Artan Grubi and Skopje Court of Appeals Judge Enver Bexheti] came out, because I forwarded the announcement to him, and I spoke with him again today.
It is very much my hope that no political party, and no individual would work to destabilize their own country. I don’t see that as being in anyone’s best interest, and particularly in the interests of the citizens. It seems that whether within the ruling coalition or within the opposition, the role of any leader elected or not, should be to help pursue a stable, secure and prosperous North Macedonia. That’s what the people want. They don’t want to have destabilising efforts,” the US Ambassador stated.
