PM Expects MEPs to Unanimously Adopt Rapporteur Waitz’s Text

Regarding next month’s debate on the draft-report on North Macedonia at the EP, PM Hristijan Mickoski said on Wednesday he expected MEPs to unanimously adopt the document confirming the Macedonian identity and language.

“For the first time, a report will be in front of MEPs in which the many-century, individual Macedonian identity and language is referred to on several occasions. Because it’s been often repeated that that is not an obstacle to anybody, it’s been often repeated that it is not a problem, I expect MEPs to unanimously adopt this report that confirms the many-century Macedonian identity and individual Macedonian language, which is part of the official languages of the UN, internationally recognised, and codified in 1977, with its codification having been completed in 1945”, he pointed out.

The debate on the text, authored by the Rapporteur on North Macedonia, MEP Thomas Waitz, is scheduled for 4 June, while the vote is supposed to be held in July.
