PM Mickoski Adamant New Government in Favour of EU Path being Unblocked

On Tuesday, PM Hristijan Mickoski said adamantly the new government was in favour of the EU path being unblocked. However, he added that there should be a partner with which it would be able to communicate on the other side.

He hopes that a political government will be formed in Bulgaria after the elections in that country at the end of October and that Skopje and Sofia will be able to find a joint solution to overcome the blockade.

“We have a principled stand. Everything requires a two-way street,” Mickoski underlined.

Asked whether he had creative solutions if Bulgaria didn’t want to renegotiate the constitutional changes issue, Mickoski said one should wait for dialogue to be opened with Sofia after the elections.

“I am convinced that if our eastern neighbour, too, cares about its interest too, the negotiations process must start for us if we want to have a whole, as the Balkans, that will be part of the EU. I am convinced that there are politicians there that want to see that,” Mickoski noted.
