On Monday, PM Mickoski explained why the Government had reduced the VAT instead of intervening in fuel excises. As he pointed out, an analysis was carried out, while, considering the stock exchange prices for unleaded gas, a conclusion was reached that if there was an intervention in excise duties, the reduction for gas and diesel would be one and two denars per liter, respectively.
“Therefore, we decided to have a more robust, larger intervention, and, this way, prices are being reduced by approximately 6.5 or 7 denars per liter”, Mickoski said.
Regarding supply of oil derivatives, he noted that it was exceptionally stable. Asked whether Limani would be dismissed as Minister of Social Policy, Demography, and Youth over the photo showing him and DUI leader Ahmeti together, the PM said that there would be a cabinet reshuffle in May or June. A lot of the matters during and before the reshuffle will be certainly discussed, he added.
Asked about the amendments to MEP Waitz’s draft report, the PM appealed for the matter to be ignored in order for it not to become part of the pre-election campaign in Bulgaria.
