Regarding the issue of independent candidates and stand by the State Election Commission (SEC) that everyone can elect and be elected, PM Hristijan Mickoski said on Monday that the responsibility for the decision fell to the SEC, which had the mechanism to adopt a new handbook.
It depends on the election body itself what type of handbook that would be, he added.
The Electoral Code draft-changes have been blocked by an opposition party due to demands that neither make sense nor are implemented anywhere else in the world, Mickoski noted, alluding to DUI. According to the PM, the party is demanding that any SEC member have a veto right regardless of the majority’s decision.
“However, if there is a political will, we, as the ruling coalition, will be absolutely ready for this item to be put on the agenda and complete that, as early as tomorrow. I will repeat, it’s been aligned by political parties. I’m referring to all, with the exception of one, which changed its mind at the last minute. This is one of the laws regarding which the new Rules of Procedure in Parliament enables filibustering by parties”, Mickoski emphasised.
When it comes to the case of dismissed Krste Petkov Misirkov Secondary School Head-teacher Maja Lozanovska and Robert Martinoski, Chief of the Demir Hisar Department of Internal Affairs, the PM stressed that everyone responsible for wrongdoing would face the consequences for that, regardless of any affiliation.
According to police, Martinoski overstepped authority by trying to deprive Lozanovska of liberty even though he only had a search order. The Ministry had said the previous day Martinoski would be dismissed and face disciplinary proceedings for unprofessional and unethical conduct.
However, Mickoski asked why nobody was commenting on the work of the replaced Head-teacher and the disappearance of stamps and other types of documents from the school. In that regard, he stressed that the Education Inspectorate had also found a big number of irregularities, including financial ones, in Lozanovska’s work, adding that that was the reason why the decision to replace her had been issued.
As regards the implementation of projects at a local level, he stated that regardless of whether it was about water supply or sewerage systems, new local or regional roads, everything represented part of the central Government’s commitment to add value to the quality of life of citizens.
